Bunnings supporting Rotary Nowra's community work
One request was for the donation of prizes for a Shoalhaven Emergency Services Community Awards (SESCA) raffle drawn at last week’s awards dinner. I was expecting that they may donate one or two vouchers. However, I was very pleasantly surprised when they donated a large outdoor fire pit.
The 2nd request was for the donation of materials to replace the netting frame works that are falling apart on four raised garden beds at “Safe Shelter Shoalhaven”, as well as one new one proposed, giving a total of six garden beds at the shelter.
At our last working bee, we used materials purchased from Bunnings to construct a P.V.C. prototype frame over the last new bed to see if it would be suitable and to determine a materials list for the other beds. The system works well and maintaining the bed is now a simple task. (Unclip the snap clamp on the centre post and slide the cable tied netting up the corner poles.)
In the letter of request, I explained that whilst our project work carried on throughout COVID,our fund raising opportunities were greatly reduced because of community fund raising restrictions eg cancellation of Triathlon BBQs etc. The net result is that our project account is being depleted.
Again, thinking that Bunnings may donate some of the materials, I was again surprised when they, not only provided all the materials except the netting (only because they don’t carry the size we need), they have offered to have their staff assist with the installation as part of their community support commitment.
Not that you need any encouragement, with all the Bunning's vouchers that your kids give you on your birthday or at Christmas. Please support Bunnings Nowra as they are very committed in supporting Rotary and its community work.
