Safe Shelter Shoalhaven
Rotary Nowra started our association with Safe Shelter Shoalhaven by establishing vegetable gardens some four years ago. Since then, we have constructed six raised beds and planted seedlings that have matured to produce some fresh food for the guests. This is done on a seasonal basis. The Club has established a roster to ensure that the garden is watered and cared for, at least on a weekly basis. The Shelter’s guests are also encouraged to participate; and those who are interested have certainly assisted where possible.
Our other role is to collect and donate tinned and/or non-perishable food to the Safe Shelter.
As the Shelter is handicapped through lack of space, our contributions are given direct to Salt Care, Bomaderry, rather than to the Safe Shelter.
Alternatively, donations of food vouchers/gift cards, instead of food, so that the Safe Shelter can provide fresh meals. These can be passed directly to Tegan, Daniel or via our Safe Shelter Co-ordinator.
Collection points are BOP Shop Vincentia Village, Choice Pharmacy Bomaderry and Bendigo Community Bank Nowra (98 Kinghorne St.); you can also bring your donations to our face-to-face meetings, and pass them to the Safe Shelter Co-ordinator; or directly to Salt Care, 5/19 Birriley Street, Bomaderry.
In addition, Tegan and Daniel seek the donation of tip vouchers - these will help them dispose of the excess rubbish that is of no use to them.
Please donate, and spread the word about this appeal.
